Born in Berlin and raised in Zurich and Tokyo, Erkki moved to Los Angeles in 2016. During this journey he developed an insatiable curiosity for global politics and a passion for journalism.

In his spare time, he channels his creativity into creating music, as well as writing short stories and poems. He holds a BA in Global Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
